Secondary Education

Undergraduate students seeking a secondary education teaching license earn their degrees in other colleges at MTSU but complete a minor in the College of Education. For Secondary Education minors, students participate in a carefully sequenced series of courses and learning experiences. The courses include on-campus and field-based learning experiences and conclude with a year of residency.

  • YOED 2500 – Planning and Assessment
  • YOED 3000 – Classroom Management
  • YOED 3300 – Problem Based Instructional Strategies
  • Residency I
  • Residency II

The Secondary Education Minor Advisor can provide more details about course specifics and when students should enroll in each of the courses. https://educationadv.mtsu.edu/advisingsecondaryed/

Students enrolled in the Secondary Education-MTeach minor program enroll in a unique series of courses focused specifically on teaching math and science. The M-Teach advisor can support students with knowing when to enroll in program specific courses. https://www.mtsu.edu/mteach/
